Several members of the MHUCC Youth Group volunteered at the July Feeding Mission Hills food distribution (which takes place in the MHUCC parking lot). And we had the opportunity to meet with four youth from Switzerland who joined us during their vacation here in San Diego!
There was a full table of fruits and veggies to include in the bags — cabbages, potatoes, onions, carrots, apples, oranges, lemons, zucchini, cucumbers, red bell peppers, broccoli, celery, and romaine lettuce. There was bread or other bakery products available for most of our customers. Each bag included a can of tuna or chicken or a jar of peanut butter. How many bags were packed? Well over 150. And each one was a large and heavy bag.
