Calling all children (up to 5th grade) – join us for an Easter Egg Hunt after the family-friendly Easter Celebration service on Sunday April 9. The Easter Bunny (assisted by the MHUCC Youth Group) has hidden 100’s of eggs at our church! Easter Service starts at 10 am, egg hunt starts at 11:15 am

Lent & Easter Activities at Mission Hills UCC will

Lent & Easter Activities at Mission Hills UCC will include:

Palm Sunday:
BYOP – bring your own palms 🌿for a procession down Fort Stockton with the United Methodist Church. Gather in front of our church at 9:30 am on Sunday, April 2 as we share our ecumenical spirit with our neighbors!

Holy Week:
We will have a Maundy Thursday Service at noon in the Chapel and later in the day we will have an intimate service of Holy Communion as we enact the Last Supper on Thursday, April 6, at 7 pm in our sanctuary, and live online. We will offer an optional foot washing as well.

Easter Sunday:
Our Sunrise Service 🌇this year will be at Pioneer Park along with the United Methodist Church. Join us at 6:30 am as we watch the sun rise in the big open area.

Our 10 am Festival Worship Service will feature the music of brass 🎺and the sound of glorious singing.

An Easter Egg Hunt 🐰at 11:15 am will follow, and is open to the community.

God, is there truth embedded in my weariness? Is there something for me to learn from the exhaustion that knows my name? Show me how to be gentle with myself. Show me how to sift through my weariness, and how to lift my eyes when the yoke is heavy, so that I can find you in my midst. Amen.

As I met with this text, I was drawn to Jesus’ call for Lazarus to be unbound. To represent the fabrics used in preparation for burial, I wrapped a canvas in linen... I began to scrape the paint onto the woven strands.... In the final image, the linen shows through the paint and the paper lace design, representing the bindings.

Jesus' call for unbinding also includes the community. The foreshortened hands of the community, tasked with unbinding his body, reach in toward Lazarus. They reach through the concentric binding lines so that he can go free.
