Sierra Service Project in Sacramento

by | Jul 19, 2023

We built steps so that older trailer park residents could safely leave their homes (the steps literally fell apart when we leant on them!) and volunteered at the Rancho Cordova Food Bank, helping to serve 400 families each day – unfortunately, a new record for that location. We learnt about past economic and policy decisions that led to a lack of services and pockets of such need in this area – and about how the community is pushing back to improve their situation. We worked alongside the local youth and with some who had travelled to the project from Pasadena. We had a fun week, and we made a difference.
