On Veterans Day, November 11th, we honor all military veterans who have served in the U.S. military, including many Mission Hills UCC members.
Our church minutes from the early 1940’s show how the congregation was involved in various ways in WWII.
We obtained a “policy of War Damage Insurance on the church property in the amount of $26,000.”
Our janitor was advised to “to obtain a shovel and buckets in accordance with the Civil Defense program.”
The church building was opened “one evening a week for the entertainment of soldiers.” Also, one room was made available for “a sewing project of the Red Cross.”
