In San Diego County, I Love a Clean San Diego organizes Coastal Cleanup Day with support from the California Coastal Commission, who organizes this effort statewide. This is all part of the greater International Coastal Cleanup that’s led by the Ocean Conservancy. This year our Youth Group joined the effort. We cleared trash from South Juniper Canyon removing more than 200lb of discarded food containers and wrappers, plastic bags, clothing, old electronics and cigarette butts from this natural open space. It was a fun and worthwhile morning – something we will certainly repeat next year.
