Weekly Adult Bible Studies
Join Tuesday mornings for a discussion of what we’ll be hearing on Sunday during worship. A second group meets on Sunday mornings before church to discuss the readings for the day or other theological writings.
Prayer Partners covenant to pray every day for submitted prayer requests. Anyone can be a prayer partner, but we request that you sign a covenant promising to pray every day. Covenant forms are available in the church office if you want to be a part of this life-changing ministry. We would love to welcome more prayer partners to join us. Prayer requests can be submitted in the offering plate using the green pew cards, or simply call the church office or contact any of the prayer partners.
Journeying Together and Man Alive
These groups meets twice a month to share their spiritual walk together – JT is a group for women and MA serves the men of our congregation. Through prayer, conversation, and support, a bond is formed and strengthened over time. New members are accepted at different times during the year. Licensed Spiritual Directors lead these groups.
Theology and Cinema
Join this group on the first Friday of each month for a potluck dinner beginning at 6:00pm, a great film selection, and a discussion of the theological implications (and more!) of the film. This group is led by Pastor Scott. New members to this group are always welcome.
Women Knitting 4 Peace
MHUCC is happy to be part of this network of individuals dedicated to crafting hope, healing, and peace one stitch at a time. Shawls, blankets, scarves, caps, and dolls are created for individuals and families in global areas of conflict. You don’t have to know how to knit, crochet, or sew, or even be a woman, to be a part of this group – just a willingness to help. Knitting 4 Peace meets on the third Thursday of the month at the church and new members are always welcome.
Do you like to sing? Our Chancel Choir will happily welcome another voice. Rehearsals are Thursdays at 7:30pm
For our young voices ages 6 through 14, our Children’s Choir has a spot for you! Rehearsals are Sundays after worship in the upstairs Choir Room. Please contact our Director of Music, Max Chodos, for more information.
On the second Monday of every month (with a break in the summer), follow the sounds of laughter and sewing machines whirring and you will find this group of volunteers in Fellowship Hall creating beautiful quilts for veterans, shut-ins, and members and friends in the hospital. Even if you don’t know how to sew, we will find a job for you in the creation of these quilts.
The world has changed a great deal since the time this group first formed almost 100 years ago at what is now Mission Hills United Church of Christ. What has not changed is this group’s commitment to mission, spirituality, fellowship, and service. Awarding annual scholarships to members attending college, working with El Nido to provide an apartment, furniture, and household goods to a woman and her children who have escaped from a life of abuse, and hosting prayer breakfasts are just a few of the activities that this group sponsors.
