There are a variety of services and experiences planned to enhance your journey to Easter as we walk the final days of Lent and Holy Week. Some are unique to our church while others will be held in cooperation with the San Diego Partnership churches. Below are listed possibilities for your consideration. May you be blessed as you participate in worship during this holy season.
Palm Sunday – March 25, 10 a.m. – A special procession involving Jesus and his disciples will precede the choir. Palm branches will be distributed as we celebrate this joyful celebration and begin Holy Week observances.
Maundy Thursday – March 29, 7 p.m. – The Lamplighter Players have adapted the scene of Jesus’ last supper, prayer, and denial just before his arrest under Pilate. This solemn service in our fellowship hall will include prayer and Holy Communion.
Good Friday – March 30, 7 – 8:30 p.m. – A contemplative experience to ponder the death of Jesus and what that means for us personally as it prepares us for Easter. Come anytime during the allotted time and walk the labyrinth, offer prayers at the prayer station, receive communion, and/or pray using icons. This is an opportunity (shared with our Partnership colleagues) to engage and deepen individually as a spiritual practice. From 7-7:30 a special holy week experience will be held for children ages 10 and under in the Chapel.
Easter Sunday – April 1
- 5:30 a.m. – Easter Vigil – Come participate in moving from darkness into light. The service is designed to shift from the despair of the tomb to the beauty of the resurrection. This candlelight service is intended to prepare on for Easter Sunrise.
- 6:30 a.m. – Easter Sunrise – We worship outdoors in our courtyard as we raise our voices declaring “He is Risen!” This joyful service in a natural setting offers a unique way to begin your Easter celebration as we affirm our faith in word and sacrament.
- 10:00 a.m. – Festival Easter Worship – Our most joy-filled and greatly anticipated service of the year. Lilies adorn the chancel, brass instrumentation augments our hymns, as together we experience the delight and joy of this the most holy day of the church year.
We hope that you will join us for all of these opportunities. Come and celebrate your faith with church family!
