Second Century Campaign Comes to a Close (May 2012)
When
members gathered at our church's first annual meeting in 1912,
what kind of future did they envision? Vibrant worship services
in a warm, welcoming sanctuary? A lively and well-attended
Sunday School? A gathering place not only for church members,
but for the larger community?
Because of the generosity of our church's founding members, we
are blessed with a strong and prosperous church that shapes our
community and our lives. Now it's our turn. We must maintain our
facility, make the changes needed to serve our community more
effectively, plan for congregational growth, and support the
mission of the larger church.
When our spiritual descendants gather at the annual meeting in
2112, what will they say about us? Our ancestors wrote a strong
"Chapter One." Together, let us write an even stronger "Chapter
Two" in the ongoing story of our church.

"Humbled by the legacy that has been entrusted to us, we stand at this crossroads, recognizing 100 years of faithful service while remaining open to God's continuing direction in mission and ministry to our community and beyond. May we be faithful stewards of all that we have been given, and thoughtful servants of this wonderful congregation. This is our prayer and this is our commitment.” -- the Rev. Scott Landis (2012)

God of all our blessings,
We are humbled by the many gifts you have provided – both past and present. Truly they are too numerous to name. As I prayerfully consider my participation in our church’s Second Century Campaign, I pause to give thanks for the faithful Pilgrims who have preceded me, some of whom I know but most who remain nameless. Their gifts of time, talent, and treasure have brought us to this day, but now the responsibility for our church’s future is in our hands. Guide me as I consider how I might affirm our heritage as I help to proclaim our legacy by ensuring a strong and vital future for our church – a spiritual home extending a welcome to all. May my pledge to this campaign make a vital difference now and into our next century of ministry. Mindful of your unconditional love I offer this prayer.
Amen.
